Phoenix rainfall deficit continues to tick upward

This years departure from average rainfall at Phoenix Sky Harbor has not been above zero once, with the airport currently sitting at 2.34" below average. To put numbers with this, from January 1st through August 4th, Sky Harbor has only measured 1.63", with the average being 3.97".

Even though it has been dry so far this year, it certainly is not the driest. That record goes to the year 1947, when only 0.68" of rain fell from January 1st through August 4th. The wettest was 13.40" in 1905.

Looking at the forecast, there will be some slight storm chances later this week, but for the most part, it appears that dry weather will be the main weather story for the next week or so.
