Near record 20º high temperature drop in Phoenix

An area of low pressure moved into Arizona on Monday bringing with it breezes, isolated thunderstorms, and much cooler temperatures. While many locations stayed dry the big story was the cold air.

The high temperature on Superbowl Sunday in Phoenix was a warm 79º; however, on Monday, the high dropped to just 59º! That's a 20º drop in just one day, which ties as the 2nd largest one-day drop during the month of February. And if you are curious, the all-time largest temperature drop (including all months) is 27º, set in 1905.

And while not quite as impressive, the high of 59º ties as the 7th coolest Feb 13th on record.

Stay warm Phoenix!
