Tied second most January snow days in Flagstaff

Several large storm systems swept through the state in January, dropping heavy snow across portions of Arizona. In fact, measurable snow was recorded on 16 days throughout the month, which tied as the second most January days with measurable snow. The record is 17 days in 1949 and 1993.

All these snow days led to Flagstaff recording 61.4" of snow during the month, which comes in as the third-highest total for January. The record is 104.8", set in 1949. Helping add to this total was January 15th, when 14.8" was recorded, which broke the record snowfall total for the day.
