Phoenix: Hottest August day on record

It was another record-breaking day, but this time Phoenix didn't only break a daily record; it broke the record for the hottest August day, with Phoenix Sky Harbor topping out at 118º.

The old record for the day was 112º, set back in 2012, and the old record for the highest temperature during the month of August was 117º, set in 2023, 2020, 2015, and 2011.

This is also the second time this year the high has reached 118º or higher. Last year we had two days as well, and in 2023 we hit or exceeded 118º a total of seven times.
