Fort Lauderdale received more rain in one day than Yuma has in over ten years!

Yesterday (April 12th), torrential rain fell in the Fort Lauderdale area, with Fort Lauderdale International Airport measuring an astonishing 25.91"! No, this is not the monthly or yearly total; that is the daily total for April 12th!

To put some context to the amount of rain this is for those of us that live in the desert, looking at Phoenix, we would have to add up all the rain that has fallen at Phoenix Sky Habor from February 1st, 2019, to current, to get to a total of 25.96". That's over four years of rainfall! Also, the most rain to fall on a single calendar day at Phoenix Sky Harbor is 3.30", back in September 2014.

If we look at Yuma, Arizona (one of the driest locations in the state), we would have to add up all the rain that has fallen over the past ten years to get 25.75" (February 1st, 2013 through current)!

And while Fort Lauderdale receives, on average, 60.95" of rain each year, getting over 40% of the annual rain in one event is impressive!
