Record: Phoenix breaks temperature record on January 3rd

The high temperature at Phoenix Sky Harbor hit 81º around 2:45pm this afternoon (Jan 3rd), breaking the old record high for the day of 79º set back in 1989. For reference, the average high for this time of year is 66º, and we have to go to March 24th to get an average high of 81º!

The good news is a weather disturbance will brush through the region, dropping afternoon high temperatures starting tomorrow (Saturday); however, they will still be above average.
