If you looked outside this morning, you likely noticed a layer of smoke overhead. This smoke is moving into the region from wildfires that are burning near Los Angeles. Ceilometer data indicates this layer of smoke is sitting at about 20,000 feet above the Valley floor. Throughout the day, we may see some haze here at the surface.
This morning, satellite imagery clearly shows the extent of the smoke, stretching from the fires into Nevada, Utah, and Arizona. As the weather pattern shifts tomorrow into the weekend, smoke should stay north and west of the Valley.
